LFF #48 - Happy 50th!

Happy Aloha Friday!!

Hope everyone had a good week and is ready to enjoy the weekend.  Seems like the last 3 months went by too quickly and Dec is already here.  Need to get hustling with Christmas projects if I want to get them out before the big day.  Today for Lilo's Fun Friday #48 I have a 50th Anniversary card featuring two cuties from Sister Stamps, Keitaro & Miyako.

Sorry for the ugly background.  I was in a hurry to make this card for my mom.  She tends to ask me for cards she needs at the last minute, only because I don't really keep these kinds of cards in my stash!  So I whipped out my Cuttlebug, embossing folders, washi paper, and glue to create the above card.  I paper pieced both outfits and colored in the rest.  In Keitaro's heart banner I wrote HAPPY and in Miyako's heart I wrote in 50th.  Since this was for a golden anniversary I used gold paper and washi paper with gold accents.  All in all the card took about 30 minutes to complete; coloring, paper piecing and all.  Whew!!  {haha}

Tomorrow the newest Sister Stamps, Chinese Zodiacs, will be in the Yumi & Fumi Handmade store.  We start off with two in the series, Snake and Horse.  Check out the Sister Stamps blog to see what Jenny has been up to and you might have some time to enter for a free stamp or two.  The entries start here.

This week's LFF #48 treat is a bundle pack.  One stamp, some washi papers, and some other goodies.  Just leave me a comment and I'll randomly choose someone.  Your question is What's your Chinese Zodiac sign?  I'm year of the pig, are we compatible?  Here is a terrific link to see if you're not sure; courtesy of the Sister Stamps' blog.

Mahalo for stopping by today and for being supportive with your lovely comments.  Happy Aloha Friday everyone, have a terrific weekend!!

Hugs,
Lilo

Holiday Cheer with Yeti Fumi

Morning everyone!!

Sorry this post is soo late.  I meant to have it up yesterday, but we had a team building event at work and I think I am getting sick!  When I say think it's because I'm not sure if it's a cold or allergies.  I'm pretty sure I'm sick, but hoping it will run its course and end soon.  {lol}  Before I get on with my post I wanted to say Mahalo to Linda and Denice for stopping by to leave me a comment on my Winter 2012 release day post.  You both will get something in the mail from me, I truly appreciate the support! :)

Here's a CAS tag I shared on the Y&FH blog but didn't get a chance to share here.

This is Yeti Fumi and she's all bundled up and ready to show off her decorating skills.  I embossed the base of the tag with one of my new Cuttlebug embossing folders (giant snowflakes) and used white Colorbox pigment ink to sponge around.  The dp is from DCWV and went perfectly with my card.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.  I finally bought a couple of their sentiment thanks to Rachel and Eva for enabling! :)  The snowflake is a chipboard with glitter on it and I used a really pretty silver braided ribbon for the top.  Yeti Fumi is colored with Copics and I apologize, but I forgot to write down the colors.  If I remember I'll make sure to update.  This tag ties in with our current November challenge, Ribbons or Lace which happens to end on Saturday.  For all the details and to link up your creation click here.  You could be in the running to win a stamp or be a part of our top 3.

Alrighty, have a nice day and Mahalo for stopping by!

Just in time for our Winter Release.
I have two samples to share, first up is Winter Fumi:

I love how her hair looks.  I know you are probably wondering where are Fumi's signature hair pom poms yea?  Well she was pretty set on having her hair down for the winter, something about the cold wind and needing her hair to keep her warm. {lol}  I had fun putting this one together.  The snowflakes are chipboard pieces from Maya Road and I used white Colorbox pigment ink and white embossing powder to make them that bright winter white color. The dp is from Wild Rose Studio and MME with the sentiment from AmyR.

Next up is Winter Chuckles.  Now if you remember when I first previewed him he had just found the perfect Christmas tree.

Now here he is with the tree all decorated and boy is he excited!!  This definitely starts the countdown to Dec. 25th!

The Christmas tree with gifts is a digital image and the chipboard corners are all from Make It Crafty. I used a Copic marker to color the corners brown.  The sentiment is from AmyR and the dp is from Basic Grey.  Yes there is a bit of distress going on here, but for the most part it's pretty CAS.

Well I don't want to keep you from hopping over to the store to take advantage of our sale.

As a Thank you for your support I will randomly choose a commenter from my blog to win a special treat.  All you have to do is make sure you comment on everyone's blog that is listed at the beginning of my post and leave a comment at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog.  I will announce the winner on Wednesday.
**Now I realize that some of the posts might not be live when you get there, but you have until Wednesday, please give them some time. :)

Don't forget you have one more week to join our November challenge. Click HERE for details.
Have a terrific week and Mahalo for stopping by!!

More Make a Keiki Smile Cards

Good morning!!

Yesterday I was able to go out and support two small businesses.  I dragged my buddy Jesse to Hearts n Crafts, etc in Covina, Ca and the local burger joint near my house, Fusion Burger.  One is a very familiar shop to me and the other was a new restaurant I have been wanting to try since they opened a few months ago.  It was a happy day of shopping for me at Hearts n Crafts, etc.. I have missed this shop and the lovely ladies who make it a fun place to be, it seems I only go out there once every few months, but when I do I make it worth my while.  I was so happy that they were having a sale on the whole entire store, 25% off!  I picked up lots of pretty papers and a few other embellishments and Jesse found some paper and a die.  The ladies there are always so very nice and friendly.  I wish I lived closer than I do, but then I'd probably have to ask for a part-time job there. {lol}  Fusion Burger is a really cute small burger joint that serves gourmet burgers at gourmet prices.  Jesse & I each ordered two different burgers and had them cut the burgers in 1/2 so we could share.  Along with a side of Tosos {potato balls with cheese and deep fried-yum}, beer battered onion rings and our old style bottled drinks we pretty much gobbled up our food.  I think next time I'll ask them to cook the burger a bit longer as it seemed a bit to pink to me, but they were delicious.  All-in-all a great day of shopping and eating and it felt great to support the small businesses that I chose.

Here are more Make a Keiki Smile 4x4 cards to share.

Featuring the Meoples from the Brrrrr! and No Peeking with Sweet November & AmyR sentiments

I also couldn't resist the Meoples Snow Joy & Meoples Dress Up Snowman, they made me smile...

Well that's all for today.  I hope you all have a great Sunday and for those of us who have to work today or go back to work tomorrow, enjoy the rest of your day!!

Mahalo for stopping by!

LFS #47 - Make a Keiki Smile cards

Hello!!

What a busy two days it's been!  Hoping you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are recovered from Black Friday shopping.  Today is Small Business Saturday and if you don't know what that means it's a day for you to go out and support your local small shops and businesses. I realize that you might be looking for big deals at the big retail stores but hope you also will support those small stores and businesses today.  I'm planning to visit a couple stores and restaurants that have always been good to me.  If you haven't seen the blinkie on my side bar go ahead and click on it to check out how Y&FH is celebrating SBS.
Sorry it's been a busy day and it was too late to post something for yesterday's Lilo's Fun Friday so for today it's changed to Lilo's Fun Saturday.  I do have some fun cards to share that are CAS and were fun to make.  These were created for the Make a Keiki Smile card drive.  I am so happy to report that as of Monday, Kris has collected more than 300+ cards for the drive!  So totally awesome!  Here are few of the cards I sent to her.  {All cards are 4x4 without embellishments, sparkle or anything that can hurt the child who receives it}.

The fun images and sentiments are all from ATS.  The characters are a mixture of the Meoples (Brrrrr..., Nativity and No Peeking digis} and boy they are so fun & cute!  The sentiments are all mixtures of Sweet November and AmyR stamps.  They were perfect for each card.  I will try to share the rest of the cards that were all just as CAS as the next.

I also forgot to pick a treat winner for the last LFS.  Congrats to Eva, I will be sending you your treat this week.  For LFF #47 question let me know if you like to make CAS Christmas cards or go all out? Leave a comment and I'll choose a winner and post it on Tuesday.  For me, it's a toss up and depends on how much time I've got.  Since I'm starting now, I'll probably have to mix it up with both.

Have a great day and Mahalo for stopping by!  Don't forget to go out and support your local small businesses.
Hugs,
Lilo

Heartfelt Thanks!

Hello everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving wishes to all of you.  Just finished eating an amazing dinner and now just resting before eating some pumpkin pie and ice cream.  Wanted to express how thankful I am to have found this awesome place to share crafts and be inspired by all of you.  Here's a quick card I made using Yumi & Fumi for this special holiday.  For all of you who come and support my blog by your comments or inspirations....

I did a slight alteration to Fumi.  She's dressed for some fall weather with her boots and along sleeve.  All I did was color using dark colors and a Copic multiliner to draw in a couple lines.  The dp is from Recollections and I fussy cut out those elements on the sign that the girls are holding.  The sentiment is from AmyR, heat embossed with white.  I also added a brown satin ribbon which totally coincides with the current Yumi & Fumi Handmade challenge.  Have you linked up your project?  Click HERE for details.

Enjoy the rest of your day/evening and have fun shopping those black Friday sales.  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Calling all Heroes

Hey everyone!!
Today I wanted to share pictures of the birthday party favors and card I made for my Godson's birthday party.  First up is the card.  The theme for the party was Avengers so I was pretty stumped as to what to make for him.  In the end using Spellbinder circles and a star punch I went super CAS and made Captain America's shield with a "twist."   The "twist" is that the shield can rotate clock and counter clockwise.  You'll have to take my word for it as there is no easy way without video to show that.  The inside of the card could be considered for the outside of the card.  I actually did have it as the front of the card, but changed my mind after I made the shield.  Here is the inside of the card that I think turned out really cool...

I found that Avengers image online, cropped it, but saved the original for the tags.  Next I searched different sites for a fun "super boy" and found Super Duper Boy from Mo's Digital Pencil.  He was pretty perfect for this group of super heroes and so keeping with the heroes theme I colored him up with Copics in the colors of Superman. I know he's not part of the Avengers, but doesn't he look natural in this group of heroes?  I this so..

As my contribution to the party I asked my friend Doreen of Treats by Doreen to bake me some of her famous chocolate chip cupcakes with chocolate and peanut butter frosting.  From there I had to think of how to package them for the guest's goody bags.  I stopped by Wal-Mart and found some Avengers paper cups and thought with some shredded paper in the bottom of the cups the cupcakes could go inside the cups.  I also picked up some clear bags to put them in. Now I couldn't leave them without making a tag right?  So using the same image as above but with the words left intact I printed them out, trimmed them, added them to some red cardstock that I cut down to make tags and added some blue and white paper ribbon.  Attached them to the bags and voila!

I didn't want to leave out a little message from the birthday boy so I printed one out for him on some labels and of course I had to give props to Doreen for making the cupcakes.

It rained during the party but we still had fun under the big white tent.  The birthday boy was excited as well as all the kids and adults that were there.  Another birthday in the bag until next year...

Mahalo for stopping by!!!  Two more days til' Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales...  What are you most excited to buy?  Me?  Well I'm not a big fan of Black Friday shopping so I might sleep in.  (hahaha)
Have a fabulous day!!

Leanne

Lollipop Crafts #94 - We are Thankful

Hey everyone!!

For the month of November the Lollipop Crafts team is sharing their version of Thankful projects.  This ties in with our challenge #94 theme, WE ARE THANKFUL and also coincides with this month's Thanksgiving holiday.  Last week a few of the ladies from both teams shared their projects.  This week, Dena, Cyndi and myself are going to share ours.  Please make sure to stop by each of their blogs to leave them some love.  For all the details on this month's challenge head on over to the Lollipop Crafts blog.

What am I most thankful?  Well, that's pretty easy.  My family, friends, being able to live in a country where we have freedom, food to eat and a warm place to rest.  I am also thankful for all of you who stop by my blog even when I haven't visited in ages.  I am thankful for how this community inspires, creates, shares ideas and creates friendships. So, "Thanks so much!"

I paired Yumi with Bookbag with this autumn themed paper from Recollections.  I had pre-colored her a while ago and love how her outfit ties in with all the lovely colors from the papers here.  I added the cute little owl on the branch and the autumn leaf to the sentiment.  The sentiment is from AmyR's Many Thanks Sentiments.  This set has a ton of wonderful Thank you sentiments, and this one was perfect for my card.  Simple and sweet.  Funny, for someone who doesn't really do a lot of sparkle, alot of my cards lately have just a bit of it.  (ha!)  That ribbon was a fun touch with the sheer black and ruffled ends.  I think this is a pretty CAS card and I love how it turned out.

I am planning to send this one to my November Secret Sister.  I hope she likes it.  Well my friends, thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving week!!!
Hugs,
Leanne

LFS - Winter BFFs mobile

Hey everyone!!

Yep, this is a little late, so for today I'm renaming this to Lilo's Fun Sunday!!  Been super busy at work and had a b-day project I had to think up and finish for a b-day party yesterday.  I'll share what I finally picked another time.  Now here's something a little different from me.  I decided to try my hand at making one of those mobiles I've see here and there.  It was pretty easy putting together because I kept it CAS.

Pulled out the BFFs from Sister Stamps and a few sentiments from AmyR's Handy Christmas Greetings & Snowman Sayings.  I also pulled out the Nesting Sprays 5-petal dies, white sheer ribbons and some twill lace.   The dp is Blue Linked Circles from Recollections.  I semi distressed the inside of each flower with vintage photo to give that nice border around each spray.  Next up I have the panels...

Here are the BFFs colored with very soft blues and blacks.  They could actually pass for sisters yea?  I added some bells to the big white bow to add a bit of sparkle and chime.  Right behind the girls is the white twill lace.  Next up are the sentiments, this first one is one of my favorites...

Isn't this an awesome sentiment?  I haven't used this one since last year so I thought it was appropriate for this project.  I added a bow at the top of each flower it seemed to soften up the flowers.  Next up is one of the smaller flowers with another favorite sentiment that fit perfectly inside...

This last one is the tiniest of the set and since I couldn't find a sentiment to fit I handwrote one in.  Now I could have written just about anything, but I thought Joy was the perfect word to end with...

This was a lot of fun to make and I could possibly see myself make more of these using different shapes,  images and sentiments.  This would be a perfect project for the latest Yumi & Fumi Handmade challenge (Use lace or ribbon).  Did you know that you could enter using Sister Stamps or a few other stamps we love?  Yep!!  Come check out the details {here} and if you would like to play you still have 2 weeks left to link up {here}. We'd love to see your projects.

Now just cause it's Sunday doesn't mean I won't continue with the LFFs share a treat fun.  So let's see, leave me a comment answering this question:  Ribbon or Lace?  I will choose a random comment to win and announce it on Wednesday's post.  Can't wait to hear what everyone likes.   Mahalo for stopping by, hope you all have a lovely Sunday!!

Some fuzzy time with Yumi & Yeti

**Treat winner from LFF #45: Heidi Brawley! Congrats!!  Email me your snail mail: quikhonu34(at)yahoo(dot)com.

Hey everyone!!

Did you all get a chance to stop by yesterday for the Y&FH Winter Previews?  If not, click HERE and you'll be transported there.  We had a really awesome lineup with some amazing guests and our awesome DT sharing their creations with our upcoming Winter images.  I loved all the different directions everyone went and I love how bright and happy all of their designs were.

Special Thank yous to Mary Johnson, Danni Bindel, Jessica Diedrich, Lou Mac, Taylor Usry & Amy Young for taking some time out of their busy schedules to help make our previews extra special!!  You ladies are terrific!!

I wanted to share two more little cards that I finished up last night.  I showcased Yeti Fumi yesterday so today I wanted to share Yeti Yumi and Yeti using similar layouts just different colored cards.  First up is Yeti Yumi and like her friend Fumi she's in the spirit of decorating.

I colored her with Copics and boy did I have fun with her outfit and hair!!  Yes, this little gal has green hair!!  The stamp in the background is from Inkadinkado.  I embossed the green card with a poinsettia embossing folder from Cuttlebug that comes in a set of 4.  I plan on using all four quite frequently for the holidays.  I added some white Colorbox ink on top to play up the raised petals and to soften up the green card itself.  As you can see I fussy cut her out and not sure if you can tell but I added a bit of diamond glaze to the lights and also the lights on the tree.  Next up is Yeti...

Hehehe, looks like Yumi & Fumi got to him!  This guy is soo cute and cuddly!!  And he's so nice to let the girls practice their decorating skills on him.  I used red Tsugumi card stock for the base of the card and again used the poinsettia embossing folder with the white Colorbox ink.  Used two different Copic colors that I've not played with before to color him up.  I like the greenish gray tint that he has.  Not sure you can tell but there is diamond glaze on all the lights, his nose, his palms, horns and toe nails! hahaha..  Who said a Yeti can't be groomed?! ;)

Here they are all together including Yeti Fumi from yesterday...

That's 3 more Christmas cards off my check list!  Yea!!  hahaha!  These and the rest of the Winter stamps will be in the store on Monday, 11/26, so mark your calendars.  These 3 will be sold individually, but as you can see they can be used together to create a fun scene.   Don't forget we have our 3 week long challenge going on and all you have to do is use a ribbon or lace on your project/card.  Click HERE for more details.

Well friends, thank you so much for all your lovely comments and for stopping by.  I'm slowly trying to catch up on visiting, but whoa everyone has been busy creating and so you might have more than a few comments/emails from me.  hehehe..  Take care and Happy Wednesday!

Hugs,
Leanne
