Happy Happy Birthday

Hello!

I've found some time to post a card I made last weekend for my friend's daughter who turned 1.  I wanted it to be fun and girly and I think I got it right...

Oh it felt really good to finish this one.  I've been in a funk lately, mostly because work has been unreal crazy!  Long hours, getting home late then getting up to do it all over again.  I'm lucky if I get to color anything lately, let alone complete a card, so having Mila's birthday card to finish felt like a really awesome accomplishment.  hehehe...  I was at Joann's a couple weekends ago and I picked up a set of Project Life Becky Higgins cards for fun.  I loved the patterns and thought they would come in handy for a quick card.  I was right!  The floral and banner print are from the LOVE collection.  Love the vintage feel to this set with it's fun color palette.  The white reverse scallop frame is a die from Lifestyle Crafts QuikKutz called Packet Scrap Dies - Hooray.  This set is made for the PL cards, so happy it fit right around the banner card.

I used Jilly's candle from Sweet November.  I loved coloring her up and adding her on to the front.  She fit perfectly with the birthday decor.  I also added an Island Scrapbooking laser cut sentiment colored with Copics and then used my WOS glitter pen to add some sparkle.  At the top of the card I used a LLC banner and hand-wrote "Happy" inside.  Here's a close-up of Jilly.  I think she is adorable and look I gave her some shiney curly locks. hahaha.

Well not sure when I'll be back, but I hope you're all having a nice weekend.  Hopefully once work settles down I'll be back to posting and coming around to see what you've all been up to.  I'm going to try to do some visiting soon.  In the meantime, Mahalo for stopping by.  Take care and happy crafting!!

KBD - Challenge #32 Up in the Sky

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!

Today starts a brand new challenge at Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday challenges.  This is going to be another fun challenge!

CHALLENGE #32
UP IN THE SKY
Sponsor: Bugaboo Stamps

For the next two weeks we want to see anything that is up in the sky!  For all the details, head on over to the Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday Challenge blog and while you're there check out what my Bees teammies have created.  They are sure to inspire you as much as they inspire me.   We were lucky enough to get some adorable sponsor images to play with and today I'm sharing a card featuring Critters Balloon - Cat.

I feel so sorry for this kitty!  Looks like he didn't know what he was getting in to when he hopped on that balloon!  Hopefully he doesn't let his claws out or he's a goner! hahaha!!   This card is all about the image and the clouds which were created with my new favorite Distress Ink pad color called Salty Ocean.  Using my cloud stencil I created these fast and easy clouds on to the white panel as well as the blue card.  Love the drama it creates.   The other thing I love about this card is that I added some shimmer to the finished card to seal in everything.

I know you can't really see it, but it's a pretty iridescent color that really brightens up the colors.  Been using it on a few other projects, and I love it.  Okie dokes, hope you'll have some time to come and play in the challenge, we'd love to see it.  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Have a fabulous Aloha Friday and a terrific weekend!!

With Heartfelt Sympathy

Morning!

Today's share is another CAS card made with Distress ink pads, black ink, a Spellbinder die and a piece of sheer ribbon.  As I mentioned the other day I've been in a funk with crafting and trying to get back in to it by going back to basics.  I've been having a lot of fun with that plan and hopefully that'll help me get my groove back.   Here's the card I made using a Rubbernecker background stamp (Wildflower BKG) and an AmyR Sympathy sentiment.

Sympathy cards are always so difficult to create, but when I do I try to make them as simple and serene as possible.  I think I accomplished that goal with this card.

It's too bad you can't see the shimmer on top of the card.  It's really pretty because it brings out the tones in the colors beautifully.  I love how this one turned out and I hope it gives some comfort to the ones that receive it.  Will definitely add more like this one to my stash leaving off the sentiment.  Alrighty, have a great day everyone!!  Thank you for stopping in.

CAS Colorful Happy Birthday!

Hey everyone!

Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Today I have a cool card to share using the double stamping technique, my Distress ink pads, Black ink pad and an older background stamp.

I've been having a little trouble with my mojo lately so I thought to try to get back in to a crafting frame of mind by going back to basics and doing something easy and fun.  Which means just stamping and no coloring.  Not only does this card make me happy it came together fairly quickly once I figured out what colors to use.  The sentiment is computer generated and the three sakura flowers are from Island Scrapbooking.

Here's the inside of the card which I inked up with the same DI ink pads for a very colorful wish. hahaha!  And because I've been doing this a lot here is a close-up of the shimmer on the front of the card.  It looks really pretty IRL.

Before I sign off I wanted to share my collection of Distress Ink pads with ya.  hehehe...  Nope I don't think I have enough, I need more colors!!  LOL!

And if you look real close you'll see some upcoming projects I started on all using DI pads and some background stamps, no double stamping though...  Alrighty, that's all for me today, I hope you are all having a fabulous Monday.  Thank you for stopping by!

LFF #79 - Wish you were here

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!

Don't forget you still have some time to go through our blog hop for a chance at a digital image from the new release at Kitty Bee Designs.  For all the details as well as the list for the hop head on over HERE to the beginning.

It's been quite some time since I last posted a Lilo's Fun Friday, so for today I'd like to share my latest mini calendar featuring a new image, Sunday Afternoon.  I wanna say that I saw someone used it in the Kit & Clowder FB group by designer Karleigh Sue Digis or they used one of Karleigh's digis and when I visited her site I thought this image was soo cool!!  Here's the calendar with a summer kinda feel

This was a lot of fun to put together.  I used brown cardstock and embossed it with one of my favorite embossing folders from Crafter's Companion.  I found some wood grain cardstock from an AC paper pad and added that to the mix.  The backdrop behind the image is from a TPC background stamp. I decided to go with some fun summer colors after stamping it in black.  Using Distress inks and my TH sponges I rubbed on the color in a diagonal pattern.  Turned out very retro summery.  Then I used some shimmer spray to give the color more vibrancy and shine.

Below is a close up of the panel with the image.  I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment which to me, works perfectly with these images.  The sentiment is part of the background stamp set.

Doesn't she look Polynesian?  That's what I was going for with her coloring.  I really love how this turned out and I think I'll make a couple more with different colors.  We'll see, I've got a few other projects including a banner and some party favors for my friend to work on...

So I've been thinking that since we all like to make calendars and send them off to people would anyone be interested in a mini calendar swap?  If so leave me a comment and I'll see if I can come up with something if we get enough interest.

Alrighty, time to sign off.  Wishing you all a great Aloha Friday and an awesome weekend!!
Hugs,
Lilo

KDB DT Spotlight - Narwhal Love

{Please scroll down for my blog hop post}

Hey everyone!

Today is the first Monday of the month which means spotlight time for me on the Kitty Bee Designs blog!  It also happens to be holiday for us in the USA, it's Labor Day!  Woo Hoo!!  A well deserved one me thinks.  Our next official holiday isn't until Thanksgiving!

Have you gone through our Halloween blog hop yet?  If you have terrific, hopefully you've left comments on everyone's blog.  If not, you have some time left, the hop ends on 9/7 and we'll announce the winners on 9/9.  Click HERE to get started.

Now let's get on with my spotlight for today.  If you haven't already noticed, owner and illustrator, Ruth Johnson not only created some adorably cute images for Halloween and Christmas, but she added some awesome sea animals to the mix!!  I am so excited to share one of the new sea animals today, as it was one that I specifically asked for.  She did an awesome job putting her cuteness stamp on this digital stamp... This is Narwhal Love...

Cute yah?  I love how squishy they turned out.  This is actually one image that I printed out two more times in different sizes.  For fun I used different colors on these guys.  Here's what I did with them...

I used Distress inks, an embossing folder, a wave border die, Stickles and some Perlen liquid to create this fun water scene.  The wave border was layered on the bottom and one of the narwhals fit perfectly inside it.  Using the Perlen pen gives these guys the wet look I was going for.  Love that stuff!  How about some close ups?

There are two more narwhals in the store as well as some cute sea honus (turtles) you can pick up. Don't forget in honor of Labor Day, Ruth is offering up the following coupon code:
  • 15% off coupon, use code 'Labor15' at check out
  • Offer good between 8/29 and 9/5
  • Can be used on your purchase for both clear and digital stamps
  • **Customers who spend $50 or more get a Mahalo (thank you) coupon for 20% off a future order. (Mahalo coupon expires 9/30)
Don't miss this opportunity to stock up on some really adorable Halloween, Christmas and sea animal images!  Head on over to the Etsy shop now... Alrighty, thanks a lot for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your day!
